Woven is an editorial publication inhabiting print and web spaces meant to highlight how the fabric of society is interwoven with its geographical environment. The first publication, “The Andes Issue,” explores the various communities surrounding the South American Mountains, their unbroken tradition of weaving, and how the specific mix of climate, resources, and geographic context has sustained this knowledge being passed down through generations. Acting as the creative director, editor, designer and curator, my design and production choices centered on conveying not just the look, but the experience of textiles, fabrics, and cloth. This was done through varying paper textures, binding selection, and page sizes, alongside the challenge of adapting these choices for a mobile and desktop website.
